Depositing USD to Etoro Account via Paypal that is linked to your local USD bank account – causes it to fail

Today, we will explore the experience and how much fees are we going to incur when we load up our Etoro account via Paypal. My Paypal’s source of funds would be the debit card we got for our USD dollar account from our local bank (mine is BPI dollar account)

Instructions

1. Make sure the dollar debit card is linked to Paypal
2. Proceed with “Deposit funds in Etoro”

3. Paypal will assume your debit card is on PHP, set the currency for this purchase to USD

4. Click Agree & Pay Now
5. It failed

Conclusion

Not sure why, but when this happens, usually the debit card doesn’t allow you to use Paypal and you should use the debit card directly instead.
